The position

As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and driving ethical business practices. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Legal Advisory & Risk Management:

  Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, ensuring smooth GBS operations in India. Liaise with relevant departments to address legal risks and ensure appropriate actions are taken.

• Employment Law:

  Offer expertise in Indian employment law, including the Industrial Disputes Act and Shops & Establishments Act. Handle labour law authorities, investigations, and compliance with workplace policies like POSH.

• Contract Management:

  Negotiate and manage critical, strategic, and high-value business contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, data privacy, and Novo Nordisk Business Ethics policies. Maintain proper documentation and storage processes.

• Business Ethics Compliance:

  Create awareness content, organise events like BE Days and Data Privacy Day, and collaborate with BECO to reduce risks and ensure audit readiness. Support investigations and draft related documentation.

• Litigation Management:

  Work with external counsels on active litigations, ensuring strategic focus and accurate documentation submission to courts or mediation authorities. Maintain updated litigation folders.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in law from a recognized university.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in company and labour laws, with the ability to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Experience working in a corporate environment handling contract management, regulatory compliances, litigations and advisories.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively interact with internal stakeholders, external counsels, and regulatory authorities.
• Experience in driving employee engagement activities and advising on new policy areas.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to anticipate risks and provide business-friendly legal solutions.

You will be part of the GBS Legal, Ethics & Compliance team, based in India. Our team ensures that Novo Nordisk operates ethically and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. We provide legal counsel across various domains, including corporate law, employment law, compliance, and business ethics.
