Job Description

Role & responsibilities - Legal Counsel is an experienced, qualified legal professional with substantial knowledge of the assigned business and the legal environment it operates in. The position handles matter independently with significant stakes and exposure to the Company; responds to request for legal advice and analysis; offers proactive advice regularly and signals prospective legal risks. The position requires to act as the Contact for all legal matters in India and Legal Business Partner for the operating BU and management. Some of the main objectives of the job is to Win/ Protect the interest of the company, navigate through the complex issues and act as the trusted advisor to the business team. Preferred candidate profile - Point of contact for all legal matters in SAP with the aim provide solution oriented legal advice and risk mitigation. Management and strategization of litigations in SAP cluster including India (which is a listed entity) and coordination with internal/external stakeholders including identification of appropriate outside counsel. Managing, drafting legal advice and conducting legal research, as and when required for effective advisory to the various other business teams/functions. Advising the business teams as legal business partner. Supporting Compliance Team in compliance related matters including investigations and also the IP legal team Finalizing court documents and response to legal notices including response to government authorities as and when required. Negotiating, vetting and drafting of contracts in SAP Standardization of templates at country level where possible. Support as required in Company Secretarial work including quarterly and annual statutory audits. Conduct legal trainings for the business team as and when required Implement Legal Group strategy, policies and standards and impart training to business teams on legal topics Supervising other legal counsel supporting in SAP Level of autonomy - The position works with nil to minimal supervision and can take decision on legal matters independently except on any new matter for external spend. The position is expected to supervisor updated/aligned on significant matters Job requirements - Bachelors Degree LLB Qualified in India Masters Degree outside of India or other international qualification is preferred Exposure to international law or cross jurisdictional issues with problem solving, negotiating, influencing and people management skills. 12- 20 years relevant working experience at an international law firm or at in-house legal department. Experience at litigation handling is preferred. Team player and always jointly reaching legal solution to support various business across the region. High integrity, collaborative communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with minimal supervision
