Job Description

Sales Trainer

They assess training needs, design and implement training materials, conduct training sessions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs.

They also collaborate with sales managers and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and tailor training solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports in Hiring and onboarding of new sales personnel.
  • Prepares new sales representatives by conducting orientation to sales process, develops individual coaching plans, provides resources and assistance, and schedules orientation drive-along with senior representatives.
  • Conducts exercise sessions for new and current sales employees.
  • Observes sales encounters and collects feedback, results, and performance data of trainees after sessions.
  • Coordinates with other sales trainers and sales managers.
  • Structures training plans to meet financial objectives.
  • Maintain updated records of training material, curricula and costs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Needs Assessment:

  • Conduct skills gap analyses to identify areas of improvement

Curriculum Development:

  • Design training curricula within time and budget
  • Produce physical and digital educational material (e.g. videos and case studies) including presentations, handouts, videos, and case studies, based on identified needs.

Training Delivery:

  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching for both new hires and existing sales staff.

Performance Evaluation:

  • Analyze the sales team's performance, identify skill gaps, and determine training needs.
  • Coordinate individual and team performance review sessions to discuss strengths and weaknesses
  • Liaise with external trainers or industry professionals and organize seminars
  • Track training effectiveness, measure results, and provide feedback to trainees and sales managers.
  • Monitor sales objectives and results

Collaboration:

  • Work with sales managers, leadership, and other departments to align training with business objectives and ensure its relevance.

Material Management:

  • Maintain and update training materials, ensuring they are current and relevant to industry trends.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to refine training programs and methodologies.
  • Collect feedback from trainees and managers about training courses
  • Report on impact of training programs (e.g. sales achieved)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., sales, marketing, education) or equivalent experience with 10+ years of experience
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and training delivery.
  • Competency Framework / Design
  • Talent Management / Succession Planning, Assessment & Development Centers,
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable training strategies.
  • Proficiency in using technology and software for training delivery and documentation.
  • LMS
  • Experience in the specific industry (Diagnostics, Healthcare/Lifesciences, Pharmaceuticals) or sales environment is preferred.
