I. Job Summary
The Lead Systems Engineer plays a critical role within the Infrastructure & Development team, supporting enterprise-level server, storage, network, and database environments. This role functions as a trusted technical advisor to clientsleading solution design, driving architectural discussions, and providing technical direction across complex infrastructure projects. The position also includes guiding delivery teams, ensuring high-quality execution, and contributing to strategic planning, process optimization, and best-practice implementation.
II. Roles & Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Act as a recognized technical leader and trusted advisor across teams and client engagements.
- Assist Solution and Domain Architects in designing infrastructure architectures across servers, networks, storage, cloud, and virtualization domains.
- Create technical designs for standardized solutions and smaller engagements; support architecture reviews.
- Lead specialized, complex, or multi-domain technical tasks, resolving ambiguities and identifying risks early.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and guide teams/clients on technical strategy and adoption.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end infrastructure projects from planning to completion, including resource allocation and timeline management.
- Establish project milestones, deliverables, and ensure adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
- Lead stand-up meetings when needed and proactively communicate risks, updates, and blockers.
- Own root cause analysis for major incidents; create remediation plans and related documentation.
- Contribute to and maintain service catalog items; produce runbooks and scalable operational processes.
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with clients to understand business requirements, assess feasibility, and design scalable, resilient solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with client technical and business leaders.
- Support engagement leads or project managers during customer interactions; lead discussions when required.
- Participate in strategic planning with Enterprise Architects for long-term roadmap initiatives.
Team Mentorship & Process Improvement
- Mentor Associate, Engineer, and Senior Engineer-level team members; provide guidance on project tasks.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing.
- Assist leadership in implementing best practices, improving delivery quality, and optimizing operational processes.
- Support efficiency improvements, identifying opportunities for automation or process enhancement.
- Act as an escalation point for technical issues and assist in removing roadblocks for the team.
III. Years Of Experience
810 years of hands-on engineering experience, preferably with consulting background.
IV. Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience also acceptable.
- Relevant domain or cloud certifications (optional but beneficial).
Must Have
V. Skill Set Required:
- Proven leadership experience in infrastructure engineering and project management.
- Subject matter expertise in at least one domain (server, network, storage, cloud, virtualization, etc.).
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, resilient technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to independently lead high-risk, ambiguous, or multi-domain technical tasks.
- Experience creating runbooks, documentation, RCA reports, and process improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management, time management, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to mentor and coach engineering teams.
Nice To Have
- Prior consulting experience with cross-functional project leadership.
- Exposure to enterprise-level cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
- Experience contributing to service catalog development or strategic architecture planning.
- Familiarity with automation opportunities and operational efficiency methods.
