Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Manage end-to-end operations of the pilot plant, including planning and execution of pilot trials.
Ensure all activities follow safety standards, SOPs.
Coordinate with R&D and process engineering teams to run experiments, scale-up studies, and process validation trials.
Monitor process parameters, equipment performance, and material balances; prepare daily and trial-specific reports.
Lead commissioning, modification, and optimization of pilot equipment and utilities.
Train and supervise technicians/operators; ensure adherence to safe operating practices.
Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and recommend improvements.
Support development of PFDs, P&IDs, and process documentation for scale-up to plant level.

Preferred candidate profile

B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering
6-10 years of experience in pilot plant operations, process development, or scale-up.
Strong knowledge of chemical processes, equipment (reactors, evaporators, heat exchangers, pumps, dryers, filters, etc.), and instrumentation.
Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and process data
Additional Skills preferred: Knowledge of automation (PLC/DCS)
