Job Description

As the Lead of ESG/Sustainability for the country at ENGIE Energy India Private Limited in Pune, you will be responsible for developing the country's sustainability strategy and action plans in alignment with ENGIE Group's purpose and wider objectives. Your role will involve integrating ESG considerations into the company's business processes, providing strategic oversight and direction to ENGIE teams, and ensuring the ongoing implementation of the company's Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS). Key Responsibilities: - Drive effective management of ESG risks and impacts, demonstrate leadership in responsible community investment, and ensure sustainable company performance. - Adopt and implement the Group's CSR/Sustainability objectives at the country level, maintaining a timely reporting process. - Coordinate action plans and policy implementation related to nature, climate, and societal aspects. - Position ENGIE's strategy and sustainability leadership among key external stakeholders. - Establish and manage relevant governance structures to integrate and report sustainability requirements effectively. Organizational Leadership: - Guide and support senior management teams of various business lines to provide organizational ESG guidance and process excellence. - Consolidate sustainability-related topics and country performance overview for dialogues with country management. - Coordinate with functional departments involved in sustainability strategy, policies, and targets. - Identify CSR programs/initiatives that support country commitments and enhance ENGIE's position in a Just Energy Transition. Project and Budgetary Management: - Support the entire project value chain from development to decommissioning. - Provide ESG input into all aspects of project management, including stakeholder engagement and community investment. - Develop and manage the country's ESG budget, ensuring alignment with business stakeholders. Reporting and Communication: - Ensure compliance with local/country laws related to ESG and ENGIE group's adoption of European directives. - Responsible for quarterly reporting through internal Sustainability/CSR channels. - Work with key stakeholders to implement the company's communication and stakeholder strategy. - Regularly report to AMEA Hub Sustainability Function for alignment with Group's missions. - Create a sustainability culture within the country through trainings and awareness initiatives. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's/postgraduate degree in socio-economic, environmental science, sustainability, or development studies. - Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in ESG, including project management in large-scale greenfield projects. - Minimum 7 years of experience in best practice ESG standards and performance assessment/application. - Proven experience in providing strategic advice on ESG at senior management level.
