Lead Design Electrical Engineer - Chennai

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong background in design engineering for onshore processing facilities in the Oil & Gas sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing complex projects, and interfacing with global clients and vendors.

Job Criteria:

• Bachelors Degree (BE/B.tech) in Electrical Engineering.
• 15- 25 years of relevant experience in design engineering within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Minimum 5 years in a Lead Engineer or Principal Engineer role.
• Proven track record of leading at least 3 major projects.
• Hands-on experience at project sites is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards.

Job Responsibility:

• Lead and guide engineering teams for projects in Oil & Gas, Petroleum Refining, Petrochemicals, Fertilizers, and LNG/LPG.
• Coordinate with local and international clients, PMC, and vendors to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
• Oversee engineering activities, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Prepare and review man-hour estimates, scheduling, and resource planning.
• Conduct and review system studies including:
• Short Circuit Analysis
• Load Flow Studies
• Motor Start-up Analysis
• Transient Stability
• Arc Flash Studies
• Insulation Coordination
• Perform relay coordination, EMC, and SAFOP assessments.
• Utilize engineering software tools such as Digsilent, ETAP, SKM, and EDSA.
• Manage substation engineering, field engineering, and interface coordination.
• Collaborate with site teams, clients, and vendors for seamless execution.
• Handle procurement engineering, including vendor document reviews.
• Contribute to proposal engineering and support business development efforts.
