Head of Design

Role Overview

• The Head of Design will be responsible for leading and managing the entire design function of the company,
• ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of creativity, functionality, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
• The role requires collaborating with internal stakeholders, external architects, consultants, and contractors to
• deliver innovative, market-relevant, and customer-centric designs for residential, commercial, and mixed-use
• developments.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and drive the overall design vision and strategy for the companys projects.
• Align design outcomes with the organizations business objectives, brand positioning, and customer expectations.
• Stay updated with global design trends, sustainable practices, and emerging technologies in real estate.

Design Management

• Oversee the design process from concept to completion across all asset classes (residential, commercial, retail, townships, etc.).
• Lead and coordinate with external architects, consultants, and design partners.
• Review and approve all design deliverables, including master plans, architecture, landscape, and interiors.
• Ensure compliance with local building by-laws, zoning regulations, and statutory norms.

Innovation & Customer Experience

• Incorporate customer insights and market research into design concepts.
• Introduce innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective design solutions.
• Drive value engineering without compromising on design quality or customer experience.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with Business Development, Projects, Sales, and Marketing teams to ensure designs are marketable and executable.
• Support pre-sales by providing design narratives, walkthroughs, and presentations.
• Collaborate with the Project Execution team for a smooth transition from design to construction.

Team Leadership

• Build, mentor, and lead an in-house design team.
• Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in architecture, urban design, and interiors.
• Excellent knowledge of building codes, construction technologies, and sustainable design.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM, etc.).
• Ability to balance creativity with functionality, cost, and timelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaison with the government bodies in clearing the design / land-related queries.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Architecture / Urban Design from a reputed institution.
• 15-20 years of experience in design management, preferably in leading real estate development firms or top architectural consultancies.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments from concept to delivery.
• Exposure to international best practices and sustainable design will be an added advantage.
