Job Description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support the Chemistry and Physics laboratories. The role involves preparing and maintaining lab equipment, assisting teachers and students during practical sessions, managing inventory of lab materials, and ensuring the overall safety and cleanliness of the laboratory. The ideal candidate should possess sound knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high academic and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up, cleaning, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment in the chemistry and physics labs.
  • Prepare, weigh and measure reagents/chemicals, prepare standard solutions, assist in experiment set-up for students.
  • Assist faculty during laboratory practical sessions, demonstrations and projects; help students in handling equipment, explain basic usage and ensure safe practices.
  • Inventory management of consumables, chemicals, glassware, instruments —monitoring supplies, raising requisition when required.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols: chemical handling, disposal, use of protective equipment, cleanliness and housekeeping of lab spaces.
  • Maintain accurate records/logbooks of equipment usage, maintenance, calibrations and experiments.
  • Assist in basic repairs or liaise with service providers for instrument repair/maintenance.
  • Disassemble and clean experiments post-session; restore lab to ready state for next use.
  • Collaborate with faculty/staff for lab improvements, ordering of new instruments, and ensuring the labs meet academic standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Chemistry, Physics or related science discipline (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with common chemistry and physics laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Good organisational and record‐keeping skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, adhere to schedules.
  • Strong commitment to safety and cleanliness in a laboratory environment.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to assist students and faculty.
  • Basic computer skills (for maintaining records, inventory, etc.).

Desirable:

  • Bachler’s degree (B.Sc) in Chemistry or Physics.
  • Previous experience working as a lab assistant/technician in an educational institution.
  • Experience in handling advanced instruments.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety regulations, waste disposal norms.

Experience:

  • 2-7 years of relevant lab experience preferred.
  • Experience assisting in practical science teaching labs is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
