L1 Engineer – Infrastructure & Application Monitoring

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented L1 Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for real-time monitoring of infrastructure and application availability, ensuring timely detection and escalation of incidents to maintain optimal system performance and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor infrastructure components (servers, network devices, databases) and applications using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Grafanaor equivalent.
Respond to alerts and events, perform initial triage, and escalate issues per defined SOPs.
Maintain incident logs and update ticketing systems with accurate information.
Collaborate with L2/L3 teams to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
Perform basic troubleshooting and health checks on systems and applications.
Generate daily/weekly reports on system availability and performance metrics.
Participate in shift handovers and ensure continuity of operations.
Follow best practices for incident, problem, and change management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2–3 years of experience in IT operations or monitoring roles.
Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
Basic understanding of networking, operating systems (Linux/Windows.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to Linux, Windows
Experience with scripting (Shell, PowerShell) for automation.
