ITOM Software Engineer (Upskill)

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

• Strong hands-on experience in network operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting (L2/L3).
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Practical experience working in Unix/Linux environments for network operations and diagnostics.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Shell, or JavaScript for automation and integrations.
• Familiarity with CMDB, network discovery, or ITOM tools (ServiceNow Discovery preferred).
• Ability and willingness to upskill into ServiceNow ITOM Development, workflow automation, and Integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
• Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP are advantageous.

• Day in the Life of a ITOM Software Engineer

• As an ITOM Developer , you will undergo a structured 3-month training program designed to transition you from a Network

• Engineer to an ITOM Developer. Your daily activities blend real operational exposure with guided learning, hands-on labs, and collaboration with experienced ITOM professionals.

• What Your Day Looks Like:

• • Review network alerts, performance dashboards, and monitoring system insights (SolarWinds, Nagios, ServiceNow).
• • Perform regular health checks on network devices, servers, and applications.
• • Troubleshoot and resolve L2/L3 network issues with support from senior engineers.
• • Participate in ServiceNow Discovery runs and support CMDB enrichment activities.
• • Assist in mapping infrastructure dependencies and improving data accuracy.
• • Learn and practice ITOM concepts such as Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, and Orchestration.
• • Contribute to small automation tasks using Python, Shell, or JavaScript under mentor guidance.
• • Work on integrations between monitoring tools and ServiceNow ITOM modules.
• • Collaborate with Network, DevOps, and ITOM teams during daily sync-ups and ongoing project discussions.
• • Document configurations, resolutions, scripts, and learning progress for internal knowledge sharing.
• • Attend structured training sessions, sandbox labs, and mentorship reviews as part of your 3-month ITOM upskilling roadmap.
