Job Description

Job Title: IT Assistant Job Purpose:

The IT Assistant provides technical support and ensures smooth daily operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
This role is suitable for small to medium-sized organizations that require hands-on support for end-users and system maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Support:
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Perform hardware upgrades and replacements as needed.
  • Software Support:
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Install and maintain software applications (MS Office, Antivirus, ERP, etc.).
  • Manage software licenses and ensure compliance.
  • Network Support:
  • Set up and troubleshoot LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Configure routers, switches, and modems.
  • Ensure network security through firewalls, antivirus, and regular updates.
  • End-User Support:
  • Provide technical support for employees regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Handle password resets, connectivity problems, and application errors.
  • Respond to IT-related helpdesk requests in a timely manner.
  • Data Backup & Security:
  • Implement regular data backup schedules.
  • Assist in data recovery processes when necessary.
  • Keep antivirus definitions up to date and perform periodic virus scans.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory records.
  • Log troubleshooting steps and solutions.
  • Assist in documenting IT policies and procedures.
  • Coordination & Procurement:
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software purchases and maintenance services.
  • Escalate complex issues to IT Manager or System Administrator when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualification:

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and basic Linux operations.
  • Networking concepts (IP Addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Hardware troubleshooting and installation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, ERP software support.
  • Basic understanding of firewalls and antivirus solutions.
  • Data backup tools (e.g., Acronis, Windows Backup).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and patience.
  • Team player and effective coordination skills.
