IT Asset Manager

The goal is to ensure these assets are:

• Properly used,
• Cost-efficient,
• Compliant with all licensing and legal requirements,
• And aligned with company policies.
  

Role Purpose (Main Objective)

oversee the entire lifecycle

• Assets are bought smartly,
• Used efficiently,
• Renewed or disposed of properly,
• And that all software and hardware are compliant and up to date.
  

Key Responsibilities

Asset Lifecycle Management

planning, procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.

Compliance & Governance

follows all software licensing rules, vendor contracts, and IT policies

Procurement & Vendor Management

buy or renew IT assets

Cost Optimization & Reporting

reduce IT costs

Policy & Process Development

IT asset management policies

Collaboration & Leadership

lead ITAM projects or initiatives

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

These measure your success:

• Cost Savings from Optimization:

  How much money is saved through better asset use or vendor negotiation.

• License Compliance Rate:

  Percentage of software properly licensed.

• User Satisfaction Scores:

  How satisfied internal users are with asset management processes and support.

Experience & Skills Needed

• Experience:

  2-3 years working with IT assets.

• Skills:

• Good knowledge of software licensing and IT governance.
• Strong organization and communication.
• Good with numbers (budgeting, forecasting).
• Can work independently and manage cross-functional projects.

• Education:

  Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field.

Key Challenges

• End-of-Life Management:

  Handling aging equipment and replacement cycles efficiently.

• Vendor Management:

  Managing multiple vendors, renewals, and negotiations.

• Compliance & Regulatory Pressure:

  Staying compliant with licensing and audit requirements.

Key Decisions

You’ll have authority to make decisions like:

• Which vendors to purchase from (procurement strategy),
• How to enforce IT asset policies,
• When and how to refresh or retire assets (lifecycle planning).
