Senior IoT Platform Engineer

to lead the transformation of our Client's Deep Media platform, powering next-gen home automation experiences beyond Savant & Control4.This role is 70% R&D, 30% stability. Ideal for product-minded engineers who thrive on innovation.

Current Context

: 30+ live installations with 70% reliability need to reach 95% while building breakthrough features for market leadership.

TRANSFORM (70% Focus) - Innovation & R&D :

  • Next-generation platform architecture and competitive features
  • AI-enabled development workflows and productivity systems
  • Flutter migration, intelligent automation, direct music integration
  • Documentation-first R&D methodology with Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
  • Market differentiation through breakthrough capabilities

PERFORM (30% Focus) - Stability & Reliability :

  • Maintain 95%+ system reliability across growing installations
  • Fix critical vendor integration issues (Samsung, Apple TV)
  • Production monitoring and rapid issue resolution
  • Quality assurance and performance optimization

Technical Scope

  • Primary : Backend systems, IoT integration, product architecture
  • Secondary : Frontend collaboration (driving Flutter initiatives with team support), AI tooling, documentation systems
  • Approach : Product-minded technical leader who drives cross-functional initiatives
  • Technology Stack Core : Node.js, Molecular microservices, NATS messaging, IoT protocols (TCP/IP, mDNS, RS232)
  • Integration : Smart TV APIs, home automation protocols, multi-vendor device management
  • AI Infrastructure : Development productivity tools, research enhancement systems, workflow optimization
  • Documentation : ADR system for technical decision tracking and R&D navigation

Must-Have Experience

  • 6+ yrs in backend & system architecture
  • Node.js, microservices (Molecular), messaging (NATS), TCP/IP, mDNS, RS232
  • IoT protocol integration & smart device APIs (e.g., Samsung, Apple TV)
  • R&D workflows, ADR documentation, and system design ownership
  • Production deployment, monitoring & reliability (70%?95% improvement)

Bonus Points

  • AI toolchain development experience
  • Exposure to home automation protocols or smart home projects
This is not a full-stack role. We're looking for a core backend/product engineer with deep IoT & platform experience.
