About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Event & Startup Membership Manager to join our growing team. This role combines strategic event planning and execution with comprehensive membership management for our startup ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating memorable experiences, building strong community relationships, and driving membership growth while supporting our mission to foster entrepreneurial success.
Key Responsibilities
Event Management (40%)
Planning & Strategy
- Design and execute comprehensive event strategies from concept to completion, including networking events, pitch competitions, workshops, and investor meetups
- Develop detailed event plans covering objectives, budgets, timelines, target audiences, and success metrics
- Research and negotiate with venues, suppliers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality services
- Create innovative event formats that engage both startups and investors effectively
Execution & Operations
- Coordinate all event logistics including venue management, catering, transportation, AV setup, and guest registration
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure all events remain within allocated financial parameters
- Oversee event setup, live execution, and tear-down processes while troubleshooting issues in real-time
- Ensure compliance with legal, health, safety, and insurance requirements for all events
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal teams, external vendors, sponsors, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery
- Coordinate with marketing teams to develop promotional strategies and materials for events
- Manage event staff, provide comprehensive briefings, and delegate responsibilities effectively
- Conduct post-event analysis, gather feedback, and prepare detailed performance reports
Startup Membership Management (40%)
Member Acquisition & Onboarding
- Develop and implement comprehensive membership acquisition strategies targeting startups, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem players
- Conduct prospect meetings, presentations, and consultations to convert leads into active members
- Design and manage streamlined onboarding processes for new members, ensuring smooth integration into the community
- Create compelling membership packages and value propositions tailored to different startup stages
Member Relationship Management
- Proactively manage and nurture existing member relationships, understanding their specific requirements and challenges
- Conduct regular check-ins with members to assess satisfaction, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for enhanced engagement
- Develop personalized member journeys and touchpoints to maximize lifetime value and retention
- Act as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, concerns, and escalations
Community Building & Engagement
- Design and facilitate networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and peer-to-peer learning initiatives
- Create targeted programs for different member segments (early-stage startups, growth companies, investors, mentors)
- Monitor member engagement metrics and implement strategies to increase participation and value realization
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure members receive maximum value from programs and services
Operations & Business Development (20%)
Database & CRM Management
- Maintain comprehensive member databases, tracking engagement patterns, preferences, and interaction history
- Generate regular reports on membership metrics, event attendance, and community engagement levels
- Implement and optimize CRM systems to enhance member experience and operational efficiency
- Manage membership renewals, billing processes, and contract negotiations
Strategic Partnerships
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with corporates, educational institutions, and ecosystem organizations
- Collaborate with business development teams to create co-marketing opportunities and joint events
- Support sponsor acquisition and management for events and programs
- Contribute to ecosystem mapping and stakeholder relationship building
Performance Analysis & Optimization
- Track and analyze key performance indicators for both events and membership programs
- Conduct ROI analysis for events and membership initiatives, providing actionable insights for improvement
- Implement continuous improvement processes based on member feedback and performance data
- Support business planning with data-driven recommendations for program expansion
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field
- Additional certifications in event planning, project management, or customer relationship management preferred
Experience
- 0-3 years of proven experience in event management, membership management, or community building roles
- Demonstrated track record of successfully planning and executing multiple events simultaneously
- Experience working with startups, entrepreneurs, or innovation ecosystems strongly preferred
- Previous experience in membership-based organizations or professional associations is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in event management software and tools (Eventbrite, Cvent, Zoom Events, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of CRM platforms and database management systems
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Experience with digital marketing tools and social media platforms for event promotion
- Project management software proficiency (Trello, Asana, Monday.com)
