Insurance Underwriter

As an Insurance Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in the evaluation and assessment of insurance applications and risk profiles to determine coverage eligibility. Your responsibilities will include: - Reviewing and analyzing insurance applications, supporting documents, and risk profiles to assess potential risks and recommend suitable policy terms, premium rates, and coverage limits. - Coordinating with insurance companies to obtain quotes, renewals, endorsements, and coverage details. - Preparing underwriting summaries, approvals, and documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. - Maintaining and updating records of all insurance proposals, approvals, and renewals in system databases. - Collaborating with claims and operations teams to ensure consistency between underwriting and policy administration. - Assisting in the renewal and endorsement process by reviewing existing policies and ensuring continued adequate coverage. - Preparing periodic reports on underwriting activities, accepted/rejected proposals, and portfolio performance. - Staying informed about insurance regulations, industry trends, and new product offerings. - Ensuring compliance with company policies, IRDAI regulations, and underwriting guidelines. Qualifications and Skills required for this role: - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. - 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting, risk assessment, or related functions. - Good understanding of insurance products (life, health, or general) and underwriting principles. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. - High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. - Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
