Job Description

IT Systems Administrator – On-Premise Infrastructure & Desktop Support (L2)

IT Systems Administrator

Key Responsibilities

Network and Security Management

Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and FortiGate firewalls.
Configure and monitor security policies, VLANs, and traffic flow.
Troubleshoot connectivity and ensure secure, stable network operations.

Server and System Administration

Manage on-premise Linux servers and TrueNAS storage systems.
Oversee user accounts, file shares, backup systems, and patch management.
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability.

End-User Support (L2)

Provide Level 2 technical support for Windows desktop users.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Assist with workstation setups, imaging, and user onboarding.

Documentation

Create and maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, network layouts, procedures, and support workflows.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience:
3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in IT system administration or technical support.
Networking:
Solid knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls.
Operating Systems:
Proficient in Windows desktop support and experienced with Linux server environments.
Storage Systems:
Familiarity with TrueNAS or other network-attached storage (NAS) solutions.
Certifications (Advantageous):
CCNA or other networking certifications are a plus.
Problem-Solving:
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
