About The Role
As a Global Information Security Specialist at BP Energy, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the company&aposs digital assets and supporting its strategic shift from an International Oil Company to an International Energy Company. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive security assessments, advising on cybersecurity risks, and supporting incident response activities. Your expertise will help ensure that BPs IT systems, data, and operational processes remain secure against evolving cyber threats. You will work closely with business units, technical teams, and external partners to foster a strong cybersecurity culture and implement best practices aligned with industry standards.This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to BP Energys mission of reaching net zero, by ensuring the integrity and resilience of its digital infrastructure. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Information or Cyber Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. Professional certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable. A solid understanding of security frameworks including ISO 27001/2, NIST, and CIS is essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of security assessment methodologies, risk management, and incident response processes. Prior experience in a cybersecurity role within industries like finance, retail, oil and gas, or supply chain is preferred. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical concepts into business impact are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for executing a range of security activities that support BP Energys digital and operational resilience. Your key responsibilities include:
- Conducting security assessments of business systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and security gaps, and recommending appropriate remediation measures.
- Assessing and communicating cybersecurity risks to both technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
- Promoting a strong cybersecurity culture by developing and supporting awareness initiatives, training programs, and best practices for daily operations.
- Providing expert support during security incidents, assisting with response activities, and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for security-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate guidance on security matters affecting systems and data.
- Performing regular security evaluations, analyzing findings, and delivering actionable reports to relevant teams.
- Collaborating with business units to implement security controls, ensuring alignment with operational needs and compliance standards.
- Monitoring emerging threats, industry trends, and evolving security best practices to maintain a proactive security posture.
Additional responsibilities include supporting security architecture design, stakeholder management, and supplier security oversight to ensure comprehensive protection of BP Energys digital ecosystem.
