Role Overview
Saahas Zero Waste is looking for a writer at heart . Someone who believes stories can shift perspectives, restore dignity, and inspire change. As an Impact Communications Coordinator, you will uncover and craft narratives from the field of waste management that bring forward the voices of workers, communities, and partners.
This role is about listening deeply, observing closely, and transforming real experiences into compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences, from grassroots communities to global stakeholders. If you are a writer who wants your words to make a tangible difference, this is your opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Impact Storytelling (Core Focus)
Seek out and shape authentic stories that reflect the impact of waste management on lives and communities.
Translate challenges in waste management into narratives that inform, inspire, and engage.
Conduct interviews with waste workers, partners, and stakeholders to capture diverse voices and lived realities.
Write human-centered stories for reports, social media, newsletters, project briefs, and campaigns.
Experiment with different formats. Profiles, blogs, photo essays, case studies, and short scripts.
Field Engagement
Spend time on-ground to observe and document daily realities of Waste Management.
Ensure stories are empathetic, respectful, and ethically sound.

Data & Insights (Support Function)
Work with data and program teams to include facts and figures that strengthen storytelling.
Use data as supporting evidence, while keeping the human narrative at the center.
Collaboration & Outreach
Partner with design/media teams to visually bring stories to life.
Support project communication by contributing compelling written content to reports and presentations.
Technical Skills
Writing and editing tools like Google Docs, MS Word, Grammarly.
Presentation tools like Google Slides/PowerPoint, Canva.
Familiarity with blogs like WordPress/Medium, social media publishing.
Basic data representation like charts/infographics.


Requirements Knowledge Required
Familiarity with development sector communication best practices
Understanding of sustainability and circular economy concepts
Contemporary economic and political awareness to contextualise stories within broader societal shifts
Awareness of global narratives influencing waste, climate action, and social inclusion
Education
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Economics, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Mass Media & Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields.
Applicants with proven writing experience and a strong storytelling portfolio in development or creative fields will also be considered.
