IGCSE History Teacher + Crew Leader (Grades 8–10)

PURPOSE Miri Piri Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced History Teacher to teach grades 8–10, including preparation for the Cambridge IGCSE History examination. In addition to delivering an engaging and academically rigorous curriculum, the teacher will serve as a Crew Leader—mentoring a small group of students and fostering their holistic development. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, student-centered mentorship, and participation in the vibrant, community-oriented life of the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Academic Instruction (History, Grades 8–10): ● Deliver high-quality History instruction aligned with the IGCSE curriculum. ● Design engaging lessons that develop historical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills. ● Prepare students thoroughly for IGCSE History assessments, including coursework and final exams. ● Use a variety of assessment methods and provide timely feedback to students and parents. ● Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.

Crew Leader Duties: ● Mentor a small group of students, offering support in their academic, emotional, and personal growth. ● Facilitate regular Crew meetings focusing on self-reflection, goal setting, and community values. ● Monitor student well-being and progress, coordinating with staff and parents when needed. ● Lead daily meditation from the Kundalini Yoga tradition (training provided). Community and School Participation: ● Supervision Duties: Participate in scheduled snack and lunch break supervision. ● Committee Service: Serve on one school committee (e.g., anti-bullying committee) and contribute to initiatives that enhance student life and school culture. ● Holiday Preparation and Celebration: Collaborate in organizing school celebrations such as Diwali, Baisakhi, and other cultural events. ● Trip Participation: Join major school trips including Induction Camp and Winter Humanology Camp. ● Spiritual Education: Participate in the Autumn Break staff spiritual development program as part of the school’s ongoing professional and personal growth. Reporting and Documentation: ● Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. ● Complete report cards, CPOMs entries (safeguarding and pastoral notes), and other documentation in a timely and thorough manner. ● Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic performance and personal growth.

QUALIFICATIONS ● Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred). ● Teaching experience at the secondary school level; IGCSE or Cambridge curriculum experience preferred. ● Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills. ● Dedication to mentoring students and contributing to a close-knit school community. ● Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. ● Willingness to learn and lead meditation from the Kundalini Yoga tradition (training will be provided). ● Commitment to the values of Miri Piri Academy, including spiritual education, discipline,
