Job Description

Reports to the Hostel Warden

Role & responsibilities

Maintain and update records of hostel residents, including check-in/out and room allotments.
Monitor student attendance, leaves, and late returns.
Keep visitor logs and ensure proper access control.
Enforce hostel rules and maintain discipline among residents.
Respond to emergencies calmly, ensuring resident safety and well-being.
Oversee cleanliness and hygiene in rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
Coordinate repairs, report maintenance issues, and supervise support staff.
Manage hostel inventory, assets, and other facility resources.
Support residents welfare, assist new students, and resolve conflicts.
Liaise with authorities and submit regular reports on hostel operations

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors degree in any discipline, preferably Science or Psychology.
2–3 years of prior experience in hostel administration at a reputed or national-level institute.
Basic understanding of maintenance, safety, and record-keeping procedures.
Familiarity with student or resident management systems and protocols.
Certification in First Aid and CPR (preferred, not mandatory).
Training in Fire Safety or Facility/Hostel Management is an added advantage.
Ability to handle grievances and resolve conflicts calmly and diplomatically.
Strong disciplinary, supervisory, and crisis management skills.
Basic computer literacy — email, spreadsheets, and hostel management tools.
Good physical and mental stamina with readiness to be available during emergencies or odd hours.
