Job Summary:

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications accurately, providing expert advice on the safe use of medicines, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. The role also involves maintaining inventory, supporting patient care, and promoting health awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prescription Handling:

• Review and interpret prescriptions from doctors.
  
• Dispense medicines accurately and counsel patients on dosage, side effects, and interactions.
  

• Customer Service & Counseling:

• Provide professional guidance to customers on over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
  
• Educate patients on medication adherence and lifestyle management.
  

• Inventory & Stock Management:

• Maintain optimal stock levels of medicines and consumables.
  
• Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper storage as per regulations.
  

• Regulatory Compliance:

• Adhere to all pharmacy laws and ethical standards as per the Drugs & Cosmetics Act.
  
• Maintain required documentation such as narcotics registers, invoices, and prescriptions.
  

• Team & Operational Support:

• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff for patient treatment plans.
  
• Ensure billing accuracy and support in monthly audits and stock reconciliations.
  

• Safety & Quality Assurance:

• Ensure proper handling and disposal of expired or damaged drugs.
  
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards in the pharmacy area.
  

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) –

• Valid State Pharmacy Council registration.
  
• Good knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, dosages, and side effects.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  
• Basic computer literacy (knowledge of billing systems preferred).
  

Experience:

• 0–3 years

  for entry-level positions.

• 3–5 years

  preferred for senior or in-charge pharmacist roles.
