Job Description

The Role:

HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) Engineer

Area of Responsibility

HIL Development & Integration
  • Design, configure, and maintain

    dSPACE Scalexio HIL test benches

    for inverter platforms.
  • Develop and integrate

    plant models, signal conditioning

    , and

    simulation environments

    tailored to inverter control systems.
  • Interface with ECUs and manage

    software/hardware integration

    for closed-loop simulation workflows.
Test Case Development & Automation
  • Author and maintain

    test cases

    covering functional, safety-critical, fault injection, and boundary conditions.
  • Develop

    automated test sequences and scripts

    using

    AutomationDesk

    ,

    ControlDesk

    ,

    Python

    , or

    MATLAB/Simulink

    .
  • Ensure alignment of test coverage with system requirements, safety goals, and validation strategies.
  • Execute regression testing, analyze anomalies, and collaborate in root cause investigations with system teams.
Collaboration & Support
  • Work cross-functionally with software, controls, systems, and safety engineers to ensure test completeness and traceability.
  • Support verification of inverter control algorithms, ASIL-related diagnostics, and performance optimization.
  • Liaise with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to meet program milestones, compliance benchmarks, and reporting deliverables.

Knowledge / Experience

Essential

  • Experience

    in

    HIL validation

    , with hands-on expertise in

    dSPACE Scalexio systems

    including setup, configuration, and operation.
  • In-depth experience in

    inverter testing on HIL platforms

    , including control behavior, safety diagnostics, and fault response validation.
  • Strong knowledge of

    ISO 26262

    ,

    ASPICE

    , and automotive testing standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with

    EV/HEV architectures

    , inverter control strategies (e.g., FOC, current control), and high-voltage safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of communication protocols such as

    CAN, LIN, FlexRay

    , and diagnostic frameworks (

    UDS

    ,

    ODX

    ).
  • Experience with

    model-based design

    tools (Simulink, TargetLink) and

    test traceability systems

    (e.g., Polarion, PTC Integrity).
  • Strong skills in data analysis, test documentation, and fault analysis reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate in fast-paced, agile, and globally distributed engineering teams.
