Role & responsibilities

1. Role Overview

The Headmaster will oversee the academic, administrative, and disciplinary operations of the school in alignment with Karnataka State Education Board norms. The role requires strong leadership, student-centric thinking, and the ability to maintain high academic standards and institutional discipline.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Academic Leadership

• Ensure full compliance with curriculum, syllabus updates, and examination protocols.
• Guide teachers in preparing lesson plans, academic calendars, assessments, remedial classes, and year plans.
• Regularly observe classroom teaching and ensure effective pedagogy, especially in core subjects.
• Monitor student performance and implement interventions to improve board exam results.
• Introduce academic enrichment programs, Olympiad coaching, and foundational skill-building activities.

B. School Administration

• Manage day-to-day school operations including attendance, discipline, timetabling, and campus safety.
• Ensure compliance with Karnataka Education Act, RTE norms, safety standards, and statutory reporting.
• Oversee school audits, DIET/BEO inspections, staff registers, and all statutory documentation.
• Coordinate transport, infrastructure, lab facilities, libraries, and overall campus upkeep.

C. Staff Supervision & Development

• Lead and supervise teaching and non-teaching staff; ensure accountability and discipline.
• Conduct staff recruitment, evaluations, performance reviews, and training programs.
• Facilitate regular teacher workshops (KSTA, DIET, B.Ed./in-service training modules).
• Motivate staff toward academic excellence and improved student outcomes.

D. Student Management & Welfare

• Maintain a disciplined, secure, and student-friendly learning environment.
• Address student behavioural issues with structured counselling and guidance.
• Promote sports, cultural activities, co-curricular programs, and personality development.
• Drive initiatives linked to NEP 2020 (activity-based learning, foundational literacy & numeracy).

E. Parent & Community Engagement

• Conduct PTA meetings, academic review discussions, and parent counselling sessions.
• Maintain transparent communication regarding academic performance, discipline, and school policies.
• Build strong community relationships and improve the schools reputation and admissions.

F. School Development & Strategy

• Support management in strategic planning, school expansion, and improvement initiatives.
• Enhance school performance through academic quality, innovative programs, and infrastructure development.
• Monitor budget utilization, resource allocation, and cost-effective operations.

3. Qualifications

• Ph.D./Master’s Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) with B.Ed. or M.Ed. (Mandatory).
• Strong proficiency in multiple languages.
• Experience in Karnataka State Board schools is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of NEP 2020 and modern teaching methodologies.
