Head - Retail Operations

Role & responsibilities

The position shall lead and have the overall accountability of Vizag Duty Free business and will be responsible for the business P&L (both Top line & Bottom line).

P & L Responsibility

• Develop implementation of the annual business plan, direct, and monitor the activities and resources, consistent with the strategic direction, financial limits and operating objectives approved by the Board.
• Responsible for driving the Company to achieve and surpass Sales, Profitability, Cash flow and Business goals objectives.

Leveraging Global Brand Partners

• Formulate & implement pricing & promotion strategies to achieve business growth.
• Build Strong relationship with stakeholders and work collaboratively to drive and maximize revenue opportunities and reach business goals.
• Ordering/Procurement and Introducing new categories in coordination with buying team.

Brand Building

• Formulate the advertising and marketing plan within budgetary guidelines and oversee the same are implemented to build Vizag Duty Free as a strong and preferred Brand.

Technology Adoption

• Design the technology roadmap of the business and lead implementation of the prioritized technology initiatives, ERP upgrades, System Improvement, Implementation of personalization / Customer Engagement Initiatives.

Operations Management

• Formulates and implements Operational policy and ensures quality of standards & controls, systems & procedures by way of regular evaluation.

Supply Chain Management

• Manage Warehouse & logistics covering the flow of goods, involving the movement and storage of goods from point of origin to point of consumption adhering to the Customs processes/compliances.

HR Management

• Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality customer service.
• Effectively manage the human resources according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
• Serve as the internal leader of the organization by leading and managing the department heads providing a strong leadership presence.

Stakeholder Management

• Develop Compliance oriented culture
• Manage all regulatory bodies including BCAS & local government authorities and ensuring that all related approvals are in place.

Preferred candidate profile

• BHM/MBA from a recognized university.
• 15-20 years of industry experience with 5-10 years in Leadership role and specific experience in Retail environment preferred.

• Strong commercial and business acumen
• Excellent understanding of the Domestic Market and Travel Retail channels and the implications of activity in Travel Retail on domestic operations.
• Specific skills required in management of trading margin, maximizing financial yields and supply chain management.
• Experience of managing a complex shop floor operation. This includes managing multiple retail units, seasonality of demand and an international customer base.
• Significant senior retail experience which has included development of strategic plans and change management.
• Strong numeracy skills ranging from interpretation of retail data to management accounts and budgeting.
• To uphold the highest degree of ethical standards and maintain the integrity of the organization.
