Job Summary:

Head Port Operations

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all aspects of

  port operations

  including cargo handling, vessel coordination, documentation, and shore-based logistics for

  coal, ash, and mineral exports

  .
• Oversee

  import/export compliance

  , ensuring strict adherence to customs, environmental, and trade regulations.
• Coordinate with port authorities, shipping agents, transporters, freight forwarders, and government bodies for seamless operations.
• Plan and implement port logistics strategies to optimize turnaround times, minimize delays, and control operational costs.
• Monitor loading/unloading of cargo at ports and ensure compliance with safety and environmental protocols.
• Handle

  liaison activities

  with local authorities, customs officials, and regulatory bodies.
• Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance related to logistics, handling, and port services.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of export/import policies, international trade norms, and any changes in DGFT, EXIM, and shipping documentation procedures.
• Drive process improvements and technology adoption to enhance port operation efficiency and visibility.
• Prepare operational reports and present performance metrics to the senior leadership team.

Key Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience

  in port operations with specific focus on

  bulk exports

  like

  coal, ash, or minerals

  .
• Strong working knowledge of

  port logistics, vessel operations, supply chain management

  , and export documentation.
• Proven experience in

  liaisoning

  with government agencies, customs, and port authorities.
• Thorough understanding of

  export/import regulations

  , EXIM policies, and related legal frameworks.
• Experience in managing high-volume cargo operations across major Indian ports (private and government).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel as required across port locations and company facilities.
