Head - Pipe Plant - Operations

Role Overview: You will be leading and managing the entire manufacturing operations of a seamless pipe plant at Welspun. Your main focus will be on extrusion press, pilger mills, and draw bench lines to ensure plant efficiency, equipment reliability, production quality, and cost-effectiveness while upholding high safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities: - Define operational and maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals. - Lead and oversee all plant operations including extrusion, pilgering, cold drawing, and ancillary departments. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production, maintenance, and asset management. - Review daily production reports and provide feedback to the unit head. - Identify resources for enhancing plant capacity utilization. - Implement innovative practices in manufacturing and expansion activities. - Ensure optimal and uninterrupted production of seamless pipes as per quality standards and customer requirements. - Monitor KPIs such as production output, yield, machine uptime, and cost per ton. - Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for critical assets. - Develop equipment reliability strategies including spare parts planning, RCFA, and condition monitoring. - Ensure minimal unplanned downtimes and extend equipment life through asset management best practices. - Lead, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and operators. - Conduct periodic performance reviews and identify skill gaps and training needs. - Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and teamwork. - Enforce strict compliance with quality management systems and metallurgical standards for seamless pipes. - Drive root cause investigations and CAPA for quality or safety incidents. - Prepare and manage annual operational and maintenance budgets. - Monitor expenses related to consumables, utilities, manpower, and equipment repair. - Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on safety or quality. - Work closely with production planning, quality assurance, engineering, supply chain, and senior management. - Act as the key decision-maker for operations-related challenges and projects. - Ensure Safe Working Conditions, safe work practices, and a safety culture. - Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformity relating to safety. - Comply with EMS, OHSAS, and statutory requirements. Qualifications Required: - Deep technical knowledge in seamless pipe production. - Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a high-output industrial environment.
