Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Vision: Develop and articulate a clear engineering vision and strategy that aligns with the company's long-term business goals, market trends, and technological advancements. Translate business requirements into technical strategies and actionable engineering roadmaps. Drive innovation, R&D efforts, and intellectual property development. Technical Excellence & Oversight: Oversee all engineering activities, from conceptual design and prototyping to testing, production integration, and post-launch support. Ensure the technical feasibility, reliability, quality, and performance of all engineered products, processes, or solutions. Establish and enforce best practices in engineering design, development methodologies (e.g., Lean, Agile), documentation, and quality assurance. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers and technical professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and problem-solving within the engineering department. Manage recruitment, performance evaluations, career development, and succession planning for the engineering team. Project & Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards. Implement robust project management processes and tools for effective execution and tracking. Allocate engineering resources efficiently across various projects and initiatives. Budget & Resource Management: Develop, manage, and control the engineering department's annual budget, ensuring optimal utilization of financial and human resources. Identify and invest in necessary tools, technologies, and infrastructure to enhance engineering capabilities. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other senior leaders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Product Management, R&D) to ensure seamless communication, alignment of goals, and integrated product/solution delivery. Act as the primary technical liaison for major clients and strategic partners. Quality, Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering designs and processes comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, safety norms, and environmental guidelines (both national and international, as applicable). Drive continuous improvement in design quality and reliability. Technology & Innovation Adoption: Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can enhance engineering efficiency, product performance, or market competitiveness. Promote a culture of continuous research and development. Vendor & Partner Management: Manage relationships with external engineering consultants, technology providers, and academic institutions to leverage external expertise. Intellectual Property (IP) Management: Oversee the identification, protection, and management of intellectual property generated by the engineering team (if applicable). Communication (Local Emphasis): Communicate complex technical and strategic information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, engineering teams, clients, and external partners. Proficiency in Marathi and Hindi is highly beneficial for local team engagement, vendor interactions, and understanding the regional context. Excellent command of English is essential for all formal, technical, and global communications.
