Job Summary
The Head - Maintenance is responsible for spearheading maintenance operations in the shipyard, ensuring the seamless functioning of machinery, equipment, and facilities. The role requires deep expertise in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry, including strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as a commitment to safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for ship repair and shipbuilding equipment and facilities.
· Lead a team of skilled technicians and engineers, ensuring efficient resource utilization, performance evaluation, and skill development.
· Ensure the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of critical equipment, such as cranes, hydraulic systems, welding machines, and dockyard tools.
· Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including those related to safety, environmental impact, and operational procedures.
· Manage maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations while adhering to project deadlines.
· Conduct regular inspections, audits, and condition monitoring of infrastructure and machinery.
· Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure availability of spare parts and materials required for maintenance activities.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying cost-saving opportunities and increasing equipment reliability.
· Oversee emergency response protocols and lead troubleshooting efforts in the event of equipment failures.
· Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, providing periodic reports on expenses, performance metrics, and maintenance outcomes.
· Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to address specialized maintenance requirements.
Desired profile:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
· Minimum of 15 years of experience in maintenance within the shipbuilding or ship repair industry.
· Deep understanding of shipyard operations, machinery, and tools, including compliance with safety and environmental standards.
· Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools.
· Experience in cost management, procurement, and contractor coordination.
