Role & responsibilities
Dim Sum Head Chef Job Responsibilities
Menu Planning & Development
Design and innovate traditional and contemporary dim sum dishes.
Update the menu seasonally and incorporate customer feedback.
Food Preparation & Cooking
Oversee the preparation and cooking of a wide variety of dim sum items (steamed, fried, baked).
Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
Team Supervision
Lead and manage the dim sum kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and helpers.
Train and mentor junior chefs on preparation techniques and recipes.
Quality Control
Maintain the highest standards of food quality and hygiene.
Conduct daily inspections to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health standards.
Inventory & Cost Management
Manage inventory of ingredients and kitchen supplies specific to dim sum production.
Control food costs and minimize wastage through portion control and efficient prep.
Kitchen Operations
Ensure all equipment and steamers are used and maintained properly.
Coordinate with the Executive Chef or Head of Kitchen for overall kitchen workflow.
Customer Satisfaction
Work closely with service staff to understand guest preferences and feedback.
Adjust recipes or presentation as per regional tastes when needed.
Compliance & Safety
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ensure staff complies with safe food handling practices and kitchen policies.
Event or Banquet Support
Develop and execute dim sum menus for special events, banquets, or buffets.
Manage volume production without compromising quality.
