Job Summary

Roots and Bloom Cafe, a vibrant sister project to the established LUMA Boutique Resort in South Goa, is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. We specialize in healthy, plant-based vegan and vegetarian cuisine, blending European health-inspired dishes with Indian flavors, all fused with fresh local Goan ingredients. Our menu features in-house bakery items, cakes, vegan desserts, breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. As Head Chef, you’ll oversee daily operations, ensure high standards of food quality and safety, and contribute to menu innovation in a fast-paced, sustainable environment. Training on our specific menu will be provided, but prior experience is essential for quick adaptation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the kitchen team, including training, and performance oversight.
• Develop and execute daily prep lists, ensuring efficient kitchen operations and minimal waste.
• Prepare vegan/vegetarian dishes, focusing on healthy European-Indian fusion cuisine, in-house baking, and desserts as per the owner’s instructions
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with local regulations.
• Collaborate with the owner (a Sweden-trained plant-based chef) on menu updates and seasonal specials using local ingredients.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to support sustainable practices.
• Foster a positive team environment and handle peak-hour demands effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Chef or Head Chef, preferably in vegan/vegetarian or healthy cuisine (3+ years).
• Strong knowledge of European and Indian cooking techniques, with a passion for plant-based, healthy food.
• Experience in bakery and dessert preparation; familiarity with in-house production is a plus.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to our custom menu with provided training.
• Formal culinary qualification (diploma/degree) preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, in a South Goa setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
