Role & responsibilities

Ensure zero battery incidents: No accidents in batteries during import, storage, manufacturing, operations, removal, storage.

• Prepare SOPs for handling.
• Prepare key indicators to be monitored for safety.
• Prepare follow-up actions in case of an incident.

Performance Measure: Zero Incidents

Roadmap for Battery life cycle management

• Prepare a roadmap for battery life cycle management.
• Identify and create key partnerships for battery life (new, used, scrap)
• EPR/ Regulatory compliance as the battery is classified as a hazardous material.

Performance measure: Regulatory compliance and fair value for battery life

Validate battery characteristics and analytics.

• Organize physical testing of batteries/ cells to generate cell/pack characteristics.
• validate supplier declared characteristics against field data, actual experimentation
• ensure data capture at battery deployments for usage into analytics
• validate results from data analytics and
• Issue actionable instructions/ guidelines based on experimental and data-driven results

Performance measure: maximize useful battery life to extract maximum value from each deployment (to be benchmarked with time)

Replacement strategy for existing deployment

• Current batteries are expected to exhaust in next 2 years
• Thus, prepare a strategy to replace these batteries for continuity of operations.
• Prepare trade-offs in new generation batteries vs replacement with current types of batteries
• New suppliers/ product evaluation for replacement keeping in mind compatibility with installed hardware

Performance measure: business/operational continuity of existing buses

Strategy for new batteries

• Prepare a tracker on battery technology development globally.
• Map new technologies that are expected to mature in the next 3-5 years
• Prepare a road map to adapt these for GCM business
• Plan for assessment, experimentation, and peer review

Performance measure: GCM access to the best battery technologies across the world

Preferred candidate profile

• Self-starter, ability to work independently, handle ambiguous situations, and exercise judgment in a variety of situations.
• Familiar with the EV Battery process, customer challenges & pain points, internal constraints, and opportunities within the Automotive & EV battery Segment
• Working with cross-functional teams in marketing, production, and procurement through technical inputs during the NPD cycle
• Working closely with R&D and procurement teams of large OEMs 5
• Actively involved in schematic preparation, BOM, procurement, designing and testing, component selection, hardware prototyping, and debugging
• Working in-depth with IEC standards in terms of safety, performance, and validation tests on EMI/EMC.
• Providing basic training on EV systems to various departments within the organization
