Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Grinding Department Manager to oversee and manage all grinding operations — including internal, external, and surface grinding. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise, practical shop-floor experience, and leadership skills to ensure high-quality output, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily operations of the grinding section (internal, external, and surface grinding).
• Plan, allocate, and monitor work for operators and technicians to meet production targets.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per drawing and customer requirements.
• Oversee machine setup, job changeovers, and process optimization to reduce cycle time and improve productivity.
• Conduct in-process inspection and guide team on corrective actions when deviations occur.
• Maintain tooling, dressing tools, and gauges in good condition and ensure proper usage.
• Collaborate with the Quality and Production Planning teams to meet delivery schedules.
• Train and mentor grinding operators to improve technical skills and process understanding.
• Implement 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement practices in the department.
• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and discipline on the shop floor.
• Report key performance metrics (OEE, rejections, rework, downtime) to management regularly.

Required Skills & Experience

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die / Production Engineering.
• Minimum 8–15 years of hands-on experience in precision grinding operations.
• Strong knowledge of internal, external (cylindrical), and surface grinding machines (manual and CNC preferred).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and surface finish symbols.
• Practical knowledge of grinding wheel selection, dressing techniques, and coolant systems.
• Experience managing a team of operators and handling multi-machine setups.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
• Experience in precision components / tool holding / automotive / aerospace industries is an added advantage.

Preferred Attributes

• Exposure to CNC grinding (Studer, Tschudin, ACE Micromatic or similar) will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing / Kaizen / 5S.
• Hands-on, practical approach with attention to detail and quality.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹350,000.00 - ₹475,000.00 per year
