Job Title: Graphic Designer Intern

Organisation: Nimaya Foundation

Location: Mumbai

Employment Type: Internship (open to students and part-time candidates)

Working Hours: Flexible, equivalent to ~30 hours per week (flexibility is allowed, but meeting deadlines is a high priority)

You will be required to travel to the Bandra West office on alternate weekdays (Monday to Friday), between 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, for up to 5 hours during that window.

Stipend: Starting 10k per month (primarily using Canva templates).

Contract: This is a short team internship opportunity. Exceptional performance may open the door to an extended or permanent opportunity with the organisation.

Overview

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Design Intern to support the development of visually engaging training decks, posters, flyers, and other communication materials. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in design while contributing to impactful projects. You’ll primarily work in Canva, assisting our team in turning content into clear, polished, and visually appealing designs that strengthen our training and communication efforts.

As a Graphic Design Intern at Nimaya, you’ll get the opportunity to work on impactful projects from day one; designing training decks, posters, and communication material that will be used directly by our trainers. Your work will have immediate visibility and impact. You’ll gain hands-on experience working in Canva, sharpen your design skills by applying them to real-world needs, and build a portfolio of practical, professional projects. Most importantly, you’ll see your designs being used to empower young women with the skills and confidence to transform their futures.

You’ll also get the chance to work closely with our co-founders, Navya Naveli Nanda and Samyak Chakrabarty, giving greater exposure to your work and helping you build a strong, real-world portfolio that will stand out in your design career.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Design Training Decks: Assist in creating clean, visually appealing, and effective presentation materials to support training programs.
  • Create Collateral: Develop posters, flyers, and simple digital graphics to communicate key messages clearly and effectively.
  • Work in Canva: Build decks and visuals primarily using Canva templates, ensuring outputs are aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work with the designer and communications team to understand design needs and deliver creative solutions.
  • Maintain Consistency: Ensure all designs follow brand identity and visual standards across platforms.
  • Support Projects: Assist with other creative tasks as needed, contributing ideas to improve materials and enhance clarity.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Gather input from the team on design effectiveness and iterate to improve clarity and engagement.

Key Requirements:

  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage time, follow instructions, and deliver on deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Previous internship or academic experience in design projects.
  • Interest in creating training/educational materials.

Background

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or strong portfolio of personal projects).
  • Familiarity with Canva (knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Figma is a plus, but not required).
  • Basic understanding of typography, layout, and color theory. Ensure all designs follow brand identity and visual standards.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized with attention to detail; able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Should be able to travel to the office in Khar and commit to the working hours mentioned.
