GM/AVP - MEP Design Management & Coordination

Role & responsibilities

• Design Review & Optimization: Lead and manage comprehensive reviews of all stages of MEP design (Concept, Schematic, Detailed, Tender) to ensure efficiency, constructability, value engineering, and compliance with the project's brief and budget.
• High-Rise Expertise: Ensure all designs specifically address the unique challenges of high-rise construction, including vertical transportation systems, fire life safety, vertical plumbing risers, smoke control, and highly efficient HVAC systems.
• Technology Integration: Drive the integration of smart building technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and sustainable design principles into all projects.

• Consultant Management: Select, appoint, and manage external MEP design consultants, specialists, and third-party peer reviewers. Negotiate scope, fees, and timelines to ensure optimal performance.
• Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Act as the primary interface between the MEP design team and Architecture, Structural Engineering, Project Management, and Cost Control departments to ensure seamless and clash-free integration of building systems.
• Value Engineering (VE): Proactively identify and implement value-engineering opportunities without compromising system performance or quality, focusing on whole life cycle cost savings.

• Tender Management: Prepare comprehensive MEP tender documents, scopes of work, and technical specifications for contractor bidding. Participate in the technical evaluation of bids and contractor selection.
• Construction Support: Provide critical support to the Construction/Site teams, addressing RFIs (Requests for Information), reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and ensuring design intent is strictly followed during execution.
• Commissioning & Handover: Oversee the design-side input into the Testing & Commissioning (T&C) process, ensuring systems are commissioned in accordance with the design performance criteria and facilitating a smooth handover.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience: Minimum of 20+ years of progressive experience in MEP design, consulting, or engineering management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., DGM, AGM) within the Real Estate Developer or large-scale consultancy sector.
• Domain Focus: Mandatory proven experience delivering the full MEP life cycle (design to commissioning) for multiple high-rise buildings.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of major MEP systems, including sophisticated HVAC solutions, high-voltage distribution, critical life safety systems (e.g., pressurization, fire suppression), and building management systems (BMS).
• Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of BIM software (e.g., Revit), AutoCAD, and relevant design calculation tools.
