General Manager / Vice President - Utility (Textile Industry)

Role & responsibilities

The incumbent shall be responsible for overall Utilities role such as

Strategic leadership and management

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for all utilities generation, water treatment, including effluent waste, Thermic heating system & CPP.
• Develop and implement long-term strategies for Energy conservation, water conservation, compliance, and cost optimisation of all related services.
• Manage a large department including engineers, managers, supervisors, and operators, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Operations and reliability

• Oversee the reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of all utilities, generation, water treatment, including effluent waste, Thermic heating system & CPP.
• Manage the operation and maintenance of

  coal-fired Heat Transfer Medium (HTM) systems

  , including fuel handling (coal storage, crushing, and feeding), combustion optimization, and ash handling systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize water usage efficiency and reduce operational costs associated with treatment power & fuel consumption.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of utility service for a continuous plant operation process.

Safety, compliance, and regulations

• Ensure all water treatment processes, effluent discharge quality, and coal-fired HTM operations comply with strict national/local environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Liaise with external regulatory bodies, such as the Pollution Control Board (e.g., MPCB), to manage all necessary permits and licenses, & ensure reporting compliance.
• Champion a zero-incident safety culture within the utilities department, with particular emphasis on chemical handling safety, fire safety for coal storage, and high-temperature system safety protocols.

Project and financial management

• Develop and manage annual operating budget (OPEX) and capital expenditure budget (CAPEX) for all designated utility departments.
• Oversee the planning and execution of major capital projects related to the area of concern.
• Interdepartmental coordination for cost effectiveness.

Performance and reporting

• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for managing Utility, CFHTM, and CPP area.
• Prepare and present comprehensive reports on utility performance, compliance status, and strategic plans.

Preferred candidate profile

B.E./B. Tech in Chemical / Mechanical with 20+ years of experience in managing utility operations from large a heavy process industry.

• Approx. 5 years of experience in a senior leadership capacity, managing large teams and budgets.

• Mandatory experience in managing coal-fired systems and comprehensive water/effluent treatment plants.

• Expert in water treatment technologies (RO, DM, ETP, ZLD) and coal-fired HTM systems/thermic fluid heaters.
• Excellent command of working on office tools & SAP.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
