Job Description

Role and responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership & Business Operations

  • Lead the overall operations of the manufacturing unit, ensuring alignment with company goals and buyer expectations.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve production, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Oversee daily factory operations across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchase, HR, Stores, and Dispatch.
  • Monitor performance metrics (OTD, FTR, Productivity, Cost, Rejection) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead all departmental heads (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchase, HR, Store, Dispatch) for unified performance.
  • Conduct regular review meetings to monitor KPIs and resolve inter-departmental issues.
  1. Production Planning & Execution

  • Ensure 100% execution of production plans as per PPC schedules to achieve on-time delivery (OTD) for all buyers.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production output vs. target and drive corrective actions for delays.
  • Review production capacity, machine utilization, and manpower allocation to minimize bottlenecks.
  • Drive implementation of lean manufacturing practices, 5S, and Kaizen activities on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate closely with PPC, Purchase, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth workflow and shipment readiness.
  • Maintain visibility on all running orders,0020work-in-progress, and bottleneck areas to proactively resolve issues.
  1. Raw Material (RM) & Inventory Management

  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and hardware as per production plan.
  • Coordinate with the Purchase and Store departments to maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  • Implement a robust material traceability system from receipt to consumption.
  • Regularly review consumption trends, yield, and variance reports to prevent material losses.
  1. Quality & Buyer Compliance

  • Oversee strict adherence to buyer-specific quality standards and internal quality benchmarks.
  • Analyze rejection data, review CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action), and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high-quality standards from raw material receipt to final dispatch.
  1. Cost Control & Profitability

  • Prepare and monitor the units Monthly/annual budget, including production costs, overheads, and manpower expenses.
  • Continuously identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in materials, manpower, energy, and process efficiency.
  • Optimize machine utilization, reduce idle time, and improve yield through process improvement and automation.
  • Control rejection, rework, and wastage to achieve targeted cost per unit and profitability.
  1. People Management & Leadership

  • Review manpower deployment and productivity across all sections daily.
  • Drive initiatives to control absenteeism, overtime, and manpower cost.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate with HR for on-job training and performance improvement.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and performance-driven growth.
  • Ensure HR and Compliance policies are effectively implemented across the factory.
  1. Compliance, Safety & Sustainability

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, social, and buyer compliance requirements (CTPAT, SCAN, BSCI, SEDEX, Target RS, etc.).
  • Oversee implementation of health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards across the factory.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure prompt rectification of hazards.
  • Promote sustainable practices in energy use, waste management, and workplace ethics.
  1. Vendor & Supply Chain Management

  • Supervise procurement of raw materials, consumables, and hardware ensuring timely availability.
  • Evaluate and develop suppliers for quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Ensure vendor performance reviews and adherence to purchase and compliance policies.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Encourage adoption of modern manufacturing techniques and automation where feasible.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive process improvement and productivity enhancement projects.
  • Benchmark factory performance against industry standards and competitors.
  1. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Review and present weekly/monthly MIS covering production, cost, shipment status, quality, and manpower data.
  • Provide actionable insights and improvement plans to management based on performance analysis.
  • Maintain transparency and effective communication with the senior management and buyers during audits and reviews.
