Job Overview : The role of General Manager Business Development is crucial as it directly impacts the company’s success by driving business growth and expansion. This position plays a pivotal role in fostering team collaboration and aligning efforts towards achieving company goals. Given the dynamic nature of the business landscape, the General Manager Business Development must stay abreast of major innovations, challenges, and industry trends to capitalize on opportunities effectively. Key stakeholders for this role include executives, department heads, and external partners, with a strong position in the company structure overseeing strategic initiatives. Success in this role is measured through KPIs such as revenue growth, market expansion, and successful partnership development. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the overall company objectives. This includes identifying new market opportunities, setting sales targets, and creating action plans to achieve them. Business Development Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor the business development team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring team members have the resources and support they need to succeed. Relationship Building and Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. This includes representing the company at industry events and networking functions. Market Analysis and Trend Monitoring: Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. Conduct thorough market research to identify potential growth areas and inform strategic decision-making. Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets. This includes identifying leads, developing proposals, negotiating contracts, and closing deals. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure alignment of strategies and objectives. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development, analyse performance data, and prepare regular reports for senior management. Budget Management: Manage the business development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with business development activities and implement mitigation strategies. Innovation and Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve business development processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation. Required Skills and Qualifications: Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM software, data analytics tools, project management platforms, market research tools, and presentation software. Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; MBA is a plus. Experience Level: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in business development, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market presence. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership, adaptability, and negotiation skills. Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, competitor landscape, and regulatory requirements.
