Job Summary
The General Manager – 3C Operations is responsible for leading and managing all 3C (Care, Conversion, and Charging) activities related to EV retrofitting, servicing, and compliance. This role ensures effective coordination across departments, adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, and timely deployment of vehicles with high quality and performance standards. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams, government authorities, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. 3C Operations Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for all 3C operations, including Care, Conversion, and Charging activities.
- Ensure day-to-day operations are carried out smoothly, efficiently, and in line with company goals.
- Establish clear operating procedures, workflows, and accountability across all 3C locations.
- Review operational performance regularly and take timely corrective actions when required.
2. Documentation, Licensing & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all central and state government regulations applicable to EV retrofitting and service operations.
- Oversee preparation, verification, maintenance, and timely renewal of all statutory documents, licenses, and approvals.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready records for inspections, certifications, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory changes and updates.
3. Vehicle Evaluation, Procurement & Budget Control
- Review and approve technical and commercial evaluations of vehicles prior to procurement.
- Ensure thorough inspection and document verification of second-hand vehicles before purchase.
- Approve retrofit budgets, cost estimates, and related documentation as per delegated authority limits.
- Monitor cost control measures and ensure optimal budget utilization without compromising quality or safety.
4. EV Conversion & Retrofit Management
- Coordinate with Engineering and R&D teams to finalize retrofit designs, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Oversee end-to-end retrofit execution to ensure compliance with approved plans, timelines, and quality standards.
- Review and approve retrofit estimates, change requests, and technical deviations where applicable.
- Ensure all retrofitting activities meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
5. Quality Assurance & Final Inspection
- Ensure quality checks are conducted at defined stages of conversion and service operations.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to implement inspection standards and corrective actions.
- Review final inspection reports and authorize vehicle deployment only after compliance confirmation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and reduce rework and failures.
6. RTO & Government Authority Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact with RTO and other government authorities for approvals and registration updates.
- Ensure timely submission of retrofit-related documentation and follow up on approvals.
- Handle regulatory inspections, audits, and queries in coordination with internal teams.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with government authorities.
7. Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Coordinate with Supply Chain Management teams to ensure timely procurement of parts, tools, and materials.
- Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and reorder planning for retrofit and service operations.
- Review spare parts consumption and ensure availability for service, breakdown, and warranty needs.
- Drive inventory optimization to reduce downtime and avoid excess stock.
8. Service, Breakdown & Warranty Operations
- Oversee preventive maintenance, breakdown support, and warranty service operations.
- Ensure service delivery meets defined turnaround time (TAT) and customer service standards.
- Review recurring technical issues and warranty claims to identify root causes.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve service reliability and vehicle uptime.
9. Customer Technical Support & Feedback Management
- Ensure customer technical requirements are clearly understood and addressed by operations teams.
- Review customer feedback, complaints, and service reports to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive resolution of critical technical issues in coordination with engineering and service teams.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent service quality and communication.
10. Equipment, Tools & Infrastructure Management
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and infrastructure used in 3C operations are well-maintained and safe.
- Approve maintenance schedules, calibration plans, and safety checks for critical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental standards.
- Support infrastructure expansion and capacity planning aligned with business growth.
11. People Management & Capability Development
- Lead manpower planning, recruitment, and onboarding for 3C operations.
- Ensure regular technical and functional training for teams.
- Conduct performance reviews, goal setting, and succession planning for key roles.
- Promote a disciplined, accountable, and performance-driven work culture.
12. Safety, Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with EHS standards across all sites.
- Encourage innovation and adoption of best operational practices.
- Identify opportunities for automation, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company and industry benchmarks.
13. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with vehicle allocation, service, R&D, finance, and commercial teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Align operational plans with overall business objectives.
- Prepare and present periodic MIS, dashboards, and operational reports to senior management.
- Support leadership decision-making through accurate data and operational insights.
