General Ledger Accountant

As a member of the finance team at Backbone, a global gaming technology company, your role will involve overseeing Accounts Receivable (AR) operations for hardware sales and digital subscription revenue. You will be responsible for reconciling multi-currency accounts, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, and matching them with supporting documentation. Additionally, you will maintain precise general ledger entries, allocate costs and revenue correctly across entities, and support monthly and quarterly close activities through journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. It will be essential to ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), and company policies while partnering cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and enhance processes. Your responsibilities will also include identifying and implementing process automation and efficiency improvements within ERP systems and providing detailed reports for audit, management, and strategic decision-making. To excel in this role, you should have at least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on AP/AR and general ledger management in a global D2C, consumer tech, or manufacturing environment. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce is required, with additional qualifications such as CA Inter, CMA, or equivalent being preferred. You should possess a strong understanding of accruals, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and revenue recognition, along with hands-on experience in ERP systems like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle. Proficiency in advanced Excel, integrity, attention to detail, and accountability for accuracy are key attributes for this role. Being self-driven, taking ownership of deliverables, and effectively collaborating with international teams across different time zones are essential skills.
