Job Description

As a Global GDS commercial lawyer at EY, you will have the opportunity to support assigned categories of the commercial contracts portfolio and associated matters across GDS locations. You will work closely with the Global GDS Lead Commercial Counsel in reviewing, negotiating, and executing commercial contracts. Your role will involve supporting the implementation of GDS contract templates, best practices, and governance structures across various GDS centers globally. Additionally, you will collaborate with other members of the GDS Legal Team and business stakeholders in different GDS locations. **Key responsibilities:** - Review, negotiate, and advise on various contracts, including Information Technology Contracts, Meeting and events contracts, Talent benefits and employee knowledge advancement contracts, Real Estate and Workplace Enablement Services contracts, and Contracts relating to branding and marketing. - Advise procurement and business teams on issues related to establishing and maintaining business relationships with GDS's vendors, including providing legal advice on disputes. - Ensure that contracts entered into by GDS comply with policies and procedures, conduct risk analysis for deviations, prepare mitigation strategies, advise relevant approver on risks and mitigating factors, and secure approvals. **Skills and attributes for success:** - Understanding stakeholder priorities impacting product and service procurement. - Coordinating with cross-functional teams for ongoing transactions. - Knowledge of EY policies relevant to procurement transactions. - Providing solution-oriented advice and feedback for efficiency. - Understanding and implementing changes in policies, structure, and procedures promptly. **Knowledge, competency, and skill requirements:** - High standards of ethics, integrity, and values. - Ability to manage client expectations in a high-pressure environment. - Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking. - Excellent communication skills in English. - Ability to summarize technical concepts for stakeholders. - Innovation in improving processes and work products. - Negotiation skills and assessing transaction risks. - Service-oriented with a focus on world-class execution. - Proactive in proposing initiatives and seeking change. - Comfortable with technology tools and adopting new technologies. To qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor of Law, hands-on experience in commercial contracts, and a minimum of 7 years of experience. Ideally, you should have worked in an In-House Legal Department of a Global MNC, exposure to disputes from commercial contracts, and experience in multiple jurisdictions beyond India.
