Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Registration: Register patients upon arrival, verifying demographic and insurance information.

2. Scheduling Appointments: Schedule appointments, procedures, and tests for patients, ensuring accurate and timely communication.

3. Answering Calls: Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.

4. Greeting Patients and Visitors: Welcome patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience.

5. Managing Patient Flow: Coordinate patient flow, ensuring timely and efficient movement of patients through the hospital.

6. Handling Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of patient information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and hospital policies.

7. Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Accurately enter patient information into electronic medical records (EMRs) and maintain up-to-date records.

8. Payment and Insurance Processing: Process patient payments, verify insurance coverage, and handle billing inquiries.

9. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams: Communicate with healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and other staff members, to ensure seamless patient care.

Requirements and Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., medical office administration, healthcare management) preferred.

3. Certification: Certification as a Certified Medical Receptionist (CMR) or Certified Medical Office Assistant (CMOA) preferred.

4. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferably in a front office or receptionist role.

5. Computer Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs), Microsoft Office, and other software applications.

6. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

7. Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Physical and Emotional Demands

1. Sitting and Standing: Prolonged sitting and standing, with frequent walking and movement.

2. Visual and Auditory Demands: Frequent use of computers, phones, and other equipment, requiring visual and auditory attention.

3. Emotional Demands: Managing high levels of stress, anxiety, and emotional intensity while interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Salary and Benefits
