Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Risk assessment and prevention:
Conduct fire risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop fire prevention programs to minimize risks.
Policy and compliance:
Develop and implement fire safety policies and procedures; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Inspections and maintenance:
Perform regular inspections of buildings and equipment (like extinguishers and alarms) to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with standards.
Training and drills:
Provide fire safety training to staff and conduct regular fire and evacuation drills to ensure preparedness.
Emergency response:
Coordinate during fire emergencies, direct evacuation procedures, and manage communication with emergency services.
Incident investigation:
Investigate the cause of fires or fire alarms, compile reports, and recommend improvements to prevent future incidents.
Record keeping:
Maintain detailed records of inspections, training, drills, incidents, and risk assessments.

Preferred candidate profile

Knowledge:

Skills:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to remain calm, observant, and detail-oriented, especially during emergencies.
Experience:
Previous experience in fire safety roles is often preferred.
Education:
A degree in a related field like Fire Safety Engineering or Occupational Safety is often a requirement.
Certifications:
Certifications in fire safety and emergency response protocols are frequently needed.
