Finance Transformation - SAP FICO

Role & responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end implementation of SAP Finance & Controlling (FICO) modules across multiple business units.
• Define project scope, milestones, timelines, and resource plans in alignment with business goals.
• Apply SAP Activate methodology across all phases (Discover Prepare Explore Realize Deploy phases)
• Manage cross-module integrations (MM, SD, PP, CO, Treasury).

Business Process Management

• Conduct finance process assessments, mapping and gap analysis across Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycles.
• Work with finance stakeholders to design To-Be processes aligned with SAP best practices.
• Drive finance design decisions on chart of accounts design, controlling area setup, parallel ledgers, cost centres, and profitability reporting.
• Lead data migration design and validations (accuracy of opening balances, vendor/customer masters, and GL data)

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

• Act as a bridge between business teams, SAP functional consultants, and system integrators (SIs).
• Facilitate Steering Committee meetings, status reporting, and change control approvals.
• Collaborate with finance leadership (CFOs, Controllers) to validate configuration and reporting outputs.
• Manage expectations, dependencies, and escalation resolution effectively.

Testing, Cutover & Go-Live Support

• Develop and oversee integration test plans, UAT scenarios, and defect resolution.
• Lead cutover planning, mock runs, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Ensure all financial reports, reconciliations, and posting controls function as expected post go-live.

Continuous Improvement

• Capture and document lessons learned for process optimization.
• Promote automation, analytics, and Fiori-based innovations within Finance.
• Identify opportunities to leverage SAP Central Finance or Group Reporting for future enhancements.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5-10 years of overall experience with

  3+ years leading SAP FICO implementation projects

• Strong functional expertise in

  SAP FI & CO

  (GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Cost Centers, PCA, CO-PA)
• Hands-on experience with

  SAP S/4HANA Finance

  and

  Universal Journal (ACDOCA)

• Solid understanding of end-to-end finance processes (

  R2R, P2P, O2C

  ) and financial close cycles
• Proven experience managing senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and external vendors
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and consulting skills
• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or IT;

  MBA (Finance) preferred

• PMP / PRINCE2 / SAP Activate certifications preferred
• Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced, client-facing consulting environment
