Job Description

Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and support of transit and smart city technology solutions. This role requires extensive fieldwork across client locations, depots, workshops, and transit stations, ensuring high system uptime, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Education & Experience

  • Education:

    Any Graduation or Diploma (Engineering preferred)
  • Total Experience:

    Minimum 5 years
  • Relevant Domain Experience:

    Minimum 3 years in GRS, GPS, Fibre, Transit Systems, or Smart City projects

Role Nature & Work Conditions

  • On-field role involving travel to client sites, depots, workshops, and transit stations
  • Rotational shifts and rotational week-offs
  • Two-wheeler is mandatory

Key Responsibilities

A. Installation & Commissioning

  • Install and configure GPS and OBU devices, biometric machines, PIS display boards, routers, and other transit equipment
  • Conduct site readiness checks and ensure compliance with system requirements
  • Perform integration testing and data analysis
  • Provide training to drivers and depot staff on hardware and software operations

B. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on deployed devices
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues within defined SLAs
  • Replace faulty components and ensure device uptime targets are achieved
  • Escalate unresolved or critical technical issues to senior management or OEMs

Monitoring & Operations Support

  • Monitor device health, connectivity, firmware updates, and transaction flow
  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure smooth daily transit services
  • Provide on-ground support during audits, inspections, and special events

D. Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with depot managers, drivers, conductors, depot staff, and other client representatives
  • Provide basic training to client teams on device handling and first-level troubleshooting
  • Maintain a professional, service-oriented communication approach at all times

E. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed logs of installations, service activities, and spare usage
  • Prepare daily/weekly reports and update incident management systems
  • Document recurring issues and assist in root cause analysis

F. Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to company SOPs, safety standards, and client protocols
  • Handle sensitive system configurations and data responsibly
  • Ensure field activities do not interfere with public transport operations

Compensation Note

  • Salary will be offered with up to 30% hike on current CTC

    , subject to experience, skill fitment, and interview performance
