Faculty positions in History

We invite applications for faculty positions in History for our Undergraduate Programme.

We invite applications for full-time faculty positions in Ancient and Medieval India. We are currently looking for candidates who can teach a broad range of core and elective courses in their period of specialisation, including courses such as Ancient World, Early India, Early Medieval South Asia, Colonial India, and more. We encourage applicants with a diverse teaching and research portfolio.

Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.

In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.

We seek applicants who identify with the purpose of the University, and are keen to contribute to the design, development and delivery of courses in our undergraduate programme. Requirements:

• Expertise and experience in one of the areas listed above
• Relevant advanced degree in History with teaching or research experience
• An active research agenda, and the ability and interest to teach a diverse classroom
• A commitment to the University’s aims of education for public service
