Fabric incharge

Job Summary

The Fabric In-Charge is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and controlling fabric for production. The role ensures correct fabric quality, shade consistency, accurate inventory, and minimum fabric wastage, supporting smooth cutting and production operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fabric Receiving & Inspection

• Receive greige / dyed / finished fabric from suppliers
• Verify:
• Fabric type (cotton, polyester, PC, blends)
• GSM, width, shade, lot
• Quantity vs challan/invoice
• Identify defects (holes, shade variation, stains, oil marks)
• Maintain fabric inspection reports

2. Fabric Storage & Handling

• Ensure proper fabric storage:
• Lot-wise
• Shade-wise
• Roll-wise
• Prevent fabric damage, moisture, dust, and contamination
• Ensure FIFO (First-In First-Out) usage

3. Fabric Issuance to Cutting

• Issue correct fabric as per:
• Style
• Colour
• Lot
• Cutting plan
• Ensure accurate fabric consumption tracking
• Coordinate with cutting in-charge for fabric requirement planning

4. Inventory & Record Keeping

• Maintain daily fabric stock register
• Track: Opening stock, Receipts, Issues, Closing Balance
• Monitor fabric shortages or excess
• Assist in monthly stock audits

5. Fabric Wastage Control

• Monitor cutting waste levels
• Segregate waste (cotton / polyester / PC)
• Ensure proper collection & storage of cutting waste
• Support waste reduction initiatives

6. Quality Coordination

• Coordinate with Quality / Production teams for fabric-related issues
• Report shade mismatch, shrinkage, GSM variation
• Support fabric testing (shrinkage, color fastness if required)

7. Team & Process Management

• Supervise fabric store helpers
• Ensure discipline & safety in fabric store area
• Follow factory SOPs and buyer requirements

Skills & RequirementsEducation

• Diploma / Any Degree (preferred)
• Relevant experience preferred over qualification

Experience

• 2–5 years as Fabric In-Charge / Fabric Store Executive
• Experience in T-shirt or knit garment factory is mandatory

Technical Knowledge

• Knit fabric types: Single Jersey, Interlock, Rib, Fleece, Pique, Airtex
• Fabric GSM, width, shrinkage basics
• Lot & shade management
• Fabric defects identification

Skills

• Good record-keeping
• Basic computer knowledge (Excel preferred and Tally)
• Coordination & communication skills
• Attention to detail

• Zero shade / lot mix-ups
• On-time fabric issue to cutting

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
