Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Project Objectives & Scope Definition

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, document, and refine project objectives and deliverables.

Ensure project objectives are clear, measurable, and aligned with business goals.

  • Estimation Techniques & Tools

Select, develop, and apply suitable estimation methodologies based on project scope and complexity.

Utilize industry-standard estimation tools, techniques, and benchmarking methods (analogous, parametric, expert judgement, etc.).

Ensure all estimates are data-driven, accurate, and well-documented.

  • Resource & Cost Management

Evaluate project requirements, manpower skills, material needs, and resource availability.

Prepare resource allocation plans aligned with project deadlines.

Ensure balanced utilization of internal and external resources for estimation accuracy.

  • Risk Identification & Mitigation

Identify potential project risks impacting estimation accuracy (technical, operational, cost, timeline).

Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure realistic project outcomes.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration

Coordinate regularly with Project Managers, Engineering, BD, Procurement, and customers for requirement clarity.

Facilitate review meetings, workshops, and communication sessions to ensure alignment.

Ensure stakeholder expectations are clearly understood and incorporated in estimation.

  • Tracking & Evaluation

Monitor project performance against baseline estimates.

Analyse deviations, recalibrate future estimation models, and generate benchmarking insights.

Maintain documentation and prepare periodic estimation performance reports.

Qualification:

  • BE/B. Tech / Diploma

Experience:

  • 7 to 15 years of experience in Estimation/Project Costing/Business Development in a manufacturing or engineering project environment.

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in estimation techniques, cost modelling, and project planning.
  • Excellent knowledge of resources, material costing, and engineering processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimation tools, MS Excel/ERP systems, and analytical modelling.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management.
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving capability.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
