EMT Pty Ltd Sydney, is the Group’s Engineering and Project Company formed over two decades ago to service local infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing and commercial sector’s engineering project requirements across a diverse and multi discipline engineering environment.

EMT OMEC pty Ltd, Sydney is the Groups Product sales and Service division. EMT OMEC supplies a wide range of high specification industrial electric motors from 0,09kW to 15MW at voltages between 230V and 11000V. This range includes general purpose industrial motors, geared motors and heavy duty IE3 IP66 Class H motors designed for arduous Australian conditions. The company also offers a full range of drives and associated control gear, as well as a full customisation, reconditioning and rewind service.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and driven Electrical Engineer to join our team in Chennai, focusing on estimation and tendering activities. This role is crucial in securing new projects by preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive bids, and ensuring compliance with technical and commercial requirements. Responsibilities:

• Analyze project requirements, including drawings, specifications, and tender documents, to understand the full scope of electrical works.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors, utilizing relevant software and databases.
• Develop comprehensive tender proposals that are technically sound, commercially competitive, and compliant with client specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., design, procurement, project management) to gather necessary information and ensure the feasibility and accuracy of bids.
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including suppliers and subcontractors, to obtain quotations and negotiate favorable terms.
• Identify potential commercial and technical risks associated with projects and propose mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present cost analyses and tender summaries to management for review and approval.
• Ensure timely submission of tenders and follow up on bids, addressing any clarifications or queries from clients.
• Maintain organized records of all estimation and tendering documents and correspondence.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimation and tendering processes and tools.
• Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and relevant regulations in the electrical engineering sector.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Assist in the handover of successful tenders to the project execution team.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Min 2 years of relevant experience in estimation and tendering for electrical projects.
• Proven ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Good negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with project management principles is an advantage.
