Description
The environmental compliance engineering team is looking for an experienced environmental professional to oversee product compliance assessment across the supply chain. In this role, you will be involved in developing environmental management processes for suppliers and manufacturing partners. Your responsibilities will include conducting on-site assessments of environmental compliance, leading investigations, and driving corrective actions when compliance issues arise. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Environmental program manager to facilitate the launch of hardware products in development. This position will involve significant travel, primarily in India and throughout southeast Asia, with occasional trips to China. Expect to travel approximately 50% of the year, sometimes on short notice. This opportunity is within Apple's Environmental Technologies group as part of the Hardware Engineering division. The team's mission is to implement industry-leading programs to address climate change, conserve resources, and promote the use of safer materials in Apple products. As an Environmental Supplier Quality Engineer, your main focus will be ensuring iPhone product compliance with environmental regulations. You will be responsible for onboarding new suppliers and final assembly test partners in India, providing training to supplier engineers, and ensuring environmental compliance readiness for new product launches. Managing the supply chain to support Apple's environmental initiatives, including compliance declaration, quality control testing, and ongoing compliance verification, will also be key aspects of your role. In addition, you will lead investigations into product compliance issues, conduct failure analyses, develop corrective action plans, and oversee engineering builds. Key Responsibilities: - Drive iPhone product compliance to environmental regulations - Onboard new suppliers/Final Assembly Test Partners in India - Deliver training to supplier engineers and ensure environmental compliance readiness for new product launches - Manage the supply chain to support Apple's environmental initiatives - Lead investigations, failure analyses, and corrective action plans for product compliance issues - Conduct audits to ensure operational excellence and drive supplier continuous improvement activities - Track and collect data for project requirements and product compliance certification - Collaborate with external auditors for manufacturing process audits Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field - 5+ years of experience in product environmental compliance and manufacturer process audits - Excellent English verbal communication and writing skills Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of environmental standards and regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH, CA Prop 65, EPEAT, IEC:62321) - Experience in product environmental compliance audit, failure analysis, and corrective actions - Understanding of electronic product assembly processes and environmental compliance quality control - Strong attention to detail and thrives in detail-oriented environments - Experience in material compliance development is a plus If you meet the qualifications and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to Apple's environmental initiatives, please submit your CV for consideration.,
